I have been using craigslist to outfit our backyard the past couple of weeks. In addition to the swing set we now have a play house and a climber with a slide and a motorized jeep. Sam loves driving Megan around in the jeep and will even "beep" when he is backing up. When Megan is driving Sam puts his arm around her - it is so cute. The jeep was the first addition to the back yard and he was a happy boy.
The next weekend I found a great play house, something I have been wanting to get for some time. Sam loved playing in the house at Megan's old school. Will put it together when the kids were in bed. Megan saw it the next morning and was hitting the back door and dancing asking to go out. Sam was downstairs for several minutes and hadn't noticed it. At one point Megan got a little vocal about asking to go out and Sam stopped what he was doing and looked at her. He was on other side of the house and he saw it. He squealed, pointed and ran to the door yelling "there is a house in our back yard". It was a school day so I told him we would play with it when Megan got home from school (it was her last day and she was only there for 1.5 hours). They had so much fun playing in it.
Last weekend I found a climber with a slide and went to get it while they were napping. When he gets up from nap the first thing he does is ask for a snack. He was sitting at the table and he looked outside and said "new playground, there is a new playground outside". And after a couple of bites he said "mama that is the best playground ever". I love how grateful he is for things and how happy it made him to have fun stuff in our back yard.
